Sometimes I feel like a figment of my own imagination.
I am an aspiring freelance writer, born and bred in the California Bay Area. I love to travel, and I am also an internet-addict, finding often the conflict within myself to surf the web or cruise the highway in my car. I have always been drawn to significant landscapes: the awe-inspiring Sierra Nevadas, the seemingly barren high desert plains, the wild coastal shores. Growing up a city-girl, though, I could never get enough of these areas. Now, I have found a city to live in that brings me closer to all the places I grew up loving so well; and, surprisingly enough, the home I found is in Nevada. Nestled against the Biggest Little City in the World, Sparks allows me small-town living, against a big city with all the trimmings. Surrounded by mountains, I can step out my front door or look out my window at some of the most beautiful scenery to be found anywhere. Here, I can make a living, live my life, and dream my dreams. Some years ago, my daughter was assigned a school project for which she had to report on a particular state–anywhere but California, since that’s where we lived. As my grandmother lives in Nevada, we decided to base our project on the Sagebrush State. Thus began my fascination with California’s next-door neighbor. In short order, I found a richness of history I was not aware of in Nevada. I found people who still take their heritage seriously, and communities that believe in working together to keep life good. I love life, and I wake up each morning excited about all the possibilities of the day ahead. Come with me on my daily journeys as I meet new people, experience new places, and learn new things in and around the great state of Nevada.
